Teenager fighting for life after shooting himself in the head

A teenager is fighting for his life after he shot himself in the head while apparently playing Russian Roulette with pals.

Josh Taylor is clinging to life in hospital after suffering critical injuries when a gun went off during a round of the deadly game on Friday.

Josh, 19, was sitting in the driver's seat of a car outside a supermarket in Sydney, Australia, when he put the Smith and Wesson handgun to his temple at around 6.30pm.

Three other teenagers in the car claim their friend then pulled the trigger as part of Russian Roulette but the gun - which had one bullet loaded - fired on the first go.

Detective Inspector Garry Sims, New South Wales Police, said: "We are comfortable at this time that it appears to be some form of misadventure rather than a targeted criminal act.

"It's a tragic incident, we feel for the young man, we feel for his family, we feel for the people there at the time."

After the shocking incident, ambulances raced to the scene and began treating the teenager before taking him to hospital where he currently remains.
