Woman charged with attempted murder after baby was found in amusement arcade

A woman has been charged with the attempted murder of Baby April who was found in a Southport amusement arcade.

The 29-year-old woman from Prescot in Merseyside was also charged with child cruelty by detectives.

She is due to appear before South Sefton magistrates’ court this morning.

The baby, named April by nurses at Ormskirk Hospital, was found in the disabled toilet at Silcock’s amusement arcade in Southport on Thursday evening.

The tot was thought to have been left on her own for more than an hour before being found by staff members.

Her mother was traced on Friday afternoon after a huge campaign was launched over fears for her safety.

April was discharged into the care of Sefton Council on Monday and is said to be doing well.
