Sh4.5m Uwezo Fund loans dished out

Homabay, Kenya: Women, youth groups and persons living with disability in Kasipul Kabondo have received Sh18.2 million to improve their lives.

The money has been given courtesy of the Uwezo Fund to enable the groups launch businesses that will empower them economically.

Speaking while handing out the cheques at Got Rateng' Secondary School, Uwezo Fund Chief Executive Officer Wilfred Buyema and area MP Silvance Osele urged the beneficiaries to be prudent in utilising the funds.

BUSINESS VENTURES

Mr Buyema urged those who hat not applied for funds to take advantage of the opportunity.

"There is no reason for a person who is within the target group to be left out while other people are receiving money for business ventures. I want to encourage all youths, women and people living with disability to form groups and apply for the funds," he said.

He pledged to put measures in place that would ensure all those who applied for the loans got their money as soon as possible.

Some Sh4.5 million was distributed to 52 groups.
