I first came to Nairobi in 2009. I assumed that the weather was similar to South Africa's, so I covered up myself a bit when driving in Nairobi.
One thing shocked me though; many old European women were dating young Kenyan men. I understand the arrangement now, but back then, I couldn't understand what made one party interested in the other.
That does not really happen back home, as the young man would be the laughing stock of his neighbourhood.
Kenyans are also strange drivers. I was really shocked when someone decided to stop in the middle of the road to pick up a friend.
However, I was impressed by their hospitality. Nairobians will always try to speak at least one word from my language although none of them could get my name right. But I was impressed that they at least made an effort to speak my language.
