Days after being reprimanded by Football Kenya Federation (FKF), Mathare United chairman Bob Munro has resigned from all his posts in the Kenyan Premier League.

The shocking move was confirmed by Kenyan Premier League (KPL) chief executive Jack Oguda, this being the latest war of supremacy between FKF and the league company.

Being the power behind the KPL, Munro's resignation as a member of the executive and rules and competitions committee will definitely leave the league company exposed.

"We have received his (Munro's) letter of resignation and he cites the need to concentrate on his club as the main reason for this decision. He feels Mathare United needs more of his attention at this time," said Oguda.

United have been struggling in the last two years in the KPL but this is not a reason enough for Munro to have thrown in the towel.

Munro could not be reached for comment but those close to him feel he was let down by his colleagues in the KPL when he had problems with the national federation.

"He (Munro) feels no one in the KPL executive stood with him yet he was fighting for the company," said our source.

Munro appeared before the FKF executive committee last week where he is reported to have denied the existence of bad blood between KPL and FKF.

According to a statement from FKF, Munro said it is unfortunate that some clubs have created an impression that there was a rift between the national office and KPL.

"As the league body, we strongly condemn those behind such utterances, we respect the FKF constitution and all clubs in the league must also abide by the rules," the statement from FKF quoted Munro.

The Mathare United chairman further promised not to get involved in the issue of the former national team head coach Adel Amrouche whose return to the national team, he had been accused of campaigning for.

After appearing before the committee, Munro was reprimanded and warned that any other unwarranted attacks that may create disunity between KPL and FKF would attract severe sanctions.

Apart from reprimanding, Munro, the committee suspended for six months Sony Sugar chairman Paul Orato.

The Sony Chairman was found culpable of issuing, sensational, alarming, misleading and unwarranted reports to the media regarding the issue of the pending league match between Sony Sugar and AFC Leopards.

"Sony Sugar FC chairman is hereby directed to desist from involving him in any football-related activities for the period of his suspension or represent Sony Sugar in all football matters and failure to act accordingly, the club will attract severe actions as per the FKF rules on Kenyan Football," said a statement from FKF.
