Son to Malawian envoy to Kenya killed in Limuru

Nairobi, Kenya: A son to Malawian High Commissioner to Kenya Brig Mercel Chirwa has been murdered near his college in Limuru.

Dennis Chirwa, a third year student at St Paul's University, was stabbed several times in the head and body and died on the spot on Saturday night.

His attackers robbed him of his mobile phone and other personal effects.

His colleagues said they had been at a local bar watching football at about 7pm when the incident occurred.

The assailants escaped soon after the killing and no arrest has been made so far.

Police said Sunday a hunt for those involved is ongoing and moved the body to the mortuary.

Inspector General of Police David Kimaiyo said they are yet to know the motive of the murder but suspect there had been a fight between the deceased and his attackers.

"We were called and informed there was murder at a bar and when we arrived there we found the man had been stabbed all over the body," he said.

The deceased colleagues have already recorded their statements.

Meanwhile, two suspects have been arrested in connection with the cold blood murder of a Criminal Investigations Department officer in Liboi, at the Kenya-Somalia border last week.

Police said those involved were prime suspects in the case and a hunt for others is under way. The suspects were apprehended in a swoop in the area.

And at least two Gor Mahia fans were Sunday injured when a vehicle was involved in an accident in Kibera, Nairobi.

Some fans were hanging from the door when their bus hit a stagnant lorry. The victims were rushed to hospital in critical condition.

Witnesses said the fans did not know the lorry was parked and because the driver was moving at high speed, they were knocked out of the vehicle.
