Man hacks neighbour to death after disagreement

Migori; Kenya: A man was hacked to death in Bondo-Nyironge Village Migori County after a disagreement with a neighbour. Robert Onyiso, a teacher at Sibuoche Primary School was hacked to death after a confrontation.

Confirming the incident, Migori Deputy OCPD Patrick Onsando said the deceased had a confrontation with the neighbour after visiting the latter’s house. He was hacked three times and died while being rushed to hospital.

He added: “Our office is investigating the incident and we are yet to establish the source of the misunderstanding that led to his death.”

Tension is said to be high between the two families and Onsando confirmed he had deployed a number of security officers to maintain surveillance to avoid further bloodshed.

A source who sought told The Standard on Saturday that the duo disagreed over a cow that the deceased gave the friend.

“The deceased had given a cow to the friend and was in the process of getting it back when he realised the cow had been sold, leading to the confrontation,” said the source.

The neighbour is alleged to have used a panga .

The body of the deceased was taken to Oruba Nursing Home mortuary.

Meanwhile, a businessman in Motemorabu, Migori County, is nursing injuries in a hospital after he was attacked by gunmen, allegedly from Tanzania.

Ghati Mungwana, was attacked at 5am on Thursday at his wholesale shop and ordered to lie down. He sustained two bullet injuries and a cut. The assailants made away with unknown amount of money.

According to the Deputy Police Boss, David Kirui, the gunmen posed as potential customers asking for prices of commodities before pulling out their guns.

“The three gunmen came in as potential customers, ordered the shopkeeper to lie down and stole property whose worth we are yet to establish,” said Kirui. Investigations are under way.
