Ban planned Saba Saba rally, President Uhuru Kenyatta told

Trans Nzoia, Kenya: CORD’s planned Saba Saba rally could be headed for trouble after legislators affiliated to Jubilee urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to ban it.

Speaking at a function attended by President Uhuru Kenyatta in Trans Nzoia County, the Jubilee leaders attacked CORD for allegedly plotting to plunge the country into turmoil.

Five MPs and two senators told the Opposition’s leaders to go ahead with the rally at their own peril.

Kericho Senator Charles Keter and TNA nominated MP Johnson Sakaja asked President Uhuru not to succumb to pressure to accept to hold a dialogue with the Opposition leaders.

Selfish agenda

MPs Wesley Korir (Cherengany), Moses Cheboi (Kuresoi North), Robert Pokuse (Endebess), David Pkosing (Pokot South), Bernard Bett (Bomet East), Bowen Kangongo (Marakwet East) and Wachira Karani (Laikipia West) and nominated Senator Zipporah Kittony echoed their sentiments.

Keter asked the President not to allow the Saba Saba rally to go ahead, arguing that the Opposition is abusing his magnanimity.

Keter asked Uhuru not to sit and watch as individuals undermine his leadership while advancing selfish political agendas.

“Mr President, don’t allow the so called Saba Saba rally to go on. Some people are abusing your generosity and humanity. Sometimes be a dictator and rude to certain situations,” urged Keter.

Keter accused the Opposition of trying to “rape” the Constitution by subjecting the President to unconstitutional engagements.
