Apologise to journalists, Ababu Namwamba tells ODM

Budalang'i MP Ababu Namwamba has given ODM seven days to apologise and compensate two journalists injured by party supporters.

Mr Ababu said the two, Moses Masinde of K24 and Shaban Makokha of The Star, had to seek medication after youths allied to ODM attacked them and destroyed their cameras at Port Victoria and Mumias respectively.

Addressing the press in his constituency, Ababu condemned the attacks, which he said violated freedom of the Press. He faulted Raila and other party officials for not commenting on the incidents whic occured during Raila Odinga's tour of western Kenya last week.

"It is very sad that none of the party officials, not even Raila, has come out to condemn the incidents," said Ababu

He added: "These barbaric and primitive intimidation acts cannot be entertained any more. Such hooliganism will not help us to move forward in the Orange house."

The former ODM secretary general said he will take a legal action against the party if nothing will be forthcoming within seven days.

The MP called on the ODM brigade to respect the Luhya and avoid hurling insults at its leaders.

He further warned top ODM leaders against propagating such insults adding that a repeat of the same will make the Luhya leaders plan for a rebellion against the ODM party leader.

The MP said the call for Luhya unity was a reality and that they were in talks with leaders from the region to unite. He accused Raila of misleading the public.
