Wavinya Ndeti denies being axed as CCU party leader

Former Youth Affairs assistant minister Wavinya Ndeti has denied allegations that she has been kicked out of Chama Cha Uzalendo (CCU).

Wavinya Monday maintained she is still the party leader and acting chairperson a day after a faction of delegates announced she had been kicked out of her position due to claims that she was a CORD sympathiser.

The party has been recently rocked by controversy following disappearance of Sh1.9 million from its account, most of which it received from the political parties fund.

On Sunday, a group of delegates alleged to be from 24 counties met at a Nairobi hotel and reinstated ousted chair Maur Bwana Maka, requesting Wavinya to relinquish the post of chairperson of the Political Parties Liaison Committee.

"I became chair when Mr Maka was expelled over misappropriation of Sh1.9 million, the group claiming to have ousted me is made up of ill-motivated persons l," said Wavinya.

Briefing journalists, the party's National vice chair Richard Onsogo said former assistant minister was removed for violating party regulations, adding that Wavinya had been officially invited, but she had declined to attend and did not send apologies.

Wavinya said she was behind Jubilee since CCU signed a post-election agreement, adding there were forces whose intention was to divide the party followers in Ukambani.
