Journalist vanishes after girl he impregnated delivers triplets

Journalist running

A journalist based in Western Kenya who works with a leading media house has escaped to Uganda after a high school girl he impregnated gave birth to triplets.

The man, who was a radio reporter, is said to have held a wedding ceremony in Uganda with another woman, a month after the Form Four girl delivered, leaving her stranded with the three bundles of joy.

The scribe apparently had an affair with the girl and committed to marry her immediately she completed her Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams.

Unknown to the high school girl, the man had been having an affair with a Ugandan woman, who is rumoured to be wealthy.

The worst came when she successfully delivered triplets through a caesarean section, contrary to the expectations of the journalist who expected only one child.

Currently stranded

This was a month ago. The 18-year-old is currently stranded because when the man heard that he had sired triplets, he escaped and went to live with his girlfriend in Uganda, whom he has since married.

The teenager was heartbroken when she heard that ‘the love of her life and father of her children’ had married someone else in a foreign country.

She was afraid that it would be close to impossible for her to raise the triplets alone, given she is yet to complete high school.

“I do not know where I will find money to take care of these children. The man responsible has also escaped,” said the girl.

It has emerged that the girl lied to her parents that the man was a fellow student.

She, however, says she regrets having a love affair while still in school, and warns other young women to avoid teenage pregnancy.

“If I knew that this is where the relationship would take me, I would not have given in to his request. Now I have a burden of three children to take care of and my future is shattered,” she lamented.

 Additional burden

“When I realised she was pregnant, I asked her who was responsible and she said the guy was also a student and hence could not afford to take care of the children,” said her mother, terming her daughter’s birth “an additional burden” to the family.

The man has not only relocated to Uganda but has also secured himself a permanent job there.

He has no intention of coming back, his friends say, and is out to avoid any encounters with the girl’s parents. In fact, he has even changed his phone number, and only his close family members can reach him. His Facebook and Twitter accounts are no longer active.

“We are his close friends but he refused to give us his new phone number because he knows we are against what he did to the high school girl and can sell him out.

He is only reachable on social media but is not really active since he got married,” says a journalist who is his close friend.
