Malaysia Airlines flight makes emergency landing, as search for MH370 continues

(The Mirror ) A Malaysia Airlines flight made an emergency landing Monday morning  due to a technical malfunction.

As the search for missing flight MH370 continues into a seventh week, the airline confirmed that flight MH192 from Kuala Lumpur to Bangalore had on Monday been forced to turn back mid-air, after its landing gear malfunctioned.

The B737-800 aircraft, which was carrying 159 passengers and seven crew, took off from the Malaysian capital at 10.09pm, but landed back in the city at 1.56am.

Fire crews were on hand to ensure the plane landed safely, but no injuries have been reported.

In a statement, Malaysia Airlines said:  "Malaysia Airlines flight MH192 that departed Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) at 10.09pm bound for Bangalore earlier had turned back and landed safely in KLIA at 1.56am, today.

"This was because one of the tyres on the right hand main landing gear burst during takeoff. The Captain was alerted by Kuala Lumpur Air Traffic Control that tyre debris were found on the runway and immediately contacted Malaysia Airlines Operations Control Centre (OCC) at 10:25pm. As safety is of utmost priority to Malaysia Airlines, the aircraft was required to turn back to KLIA.
