Tourist sustains head injuries after being assaulted by tour guides in Moyale

Moyale, Kenya: A tourist sustained serious head injuries after being assaulted by tour guides in Moyale town. The injured a chinese national was in the company of thee others when they were accosted.

The four were heading to Nairobi after entering Kenya through the Ethiopian border. The perceived attackers approached the tourists with an offer to guide them through the town while also directing them on where they could board Nairobi bound buses.

According to a witness the tourists were attacked while heading to a lodging to look for accommodation. The guides then tried to rob the chinese nationals who resisted leading to a scuffle were one of them was hit on the head by a stone.

The injured tourist was identified as Mr Chi; he was rushed to hospital after losing consciousness.

 Confirming the incident, Moyale OCPD Thomas Antuti said that Mr Chi suffered serious head injuries during the Thursday evening incident and was rushed to Awasa Hospital in Ethiopia for treatment.

Mr Antuti mentioned that the motive of the attack has not yet been established but investigations have been launched, adding that one suspect had been arrested and is assisting the police with the investigations.
