NAIVASHA, KENYA: A ten year old girl from a Naivasha escaped from kidnappers after an eight hour ordeal.

She walked in darkness for two hours before she was rescued by a motorcycle operator who drove her home.

Tears of pain were replaced by tears of joy as the family was reunited with the girl.

According to the mother Lucy Mathea, the saga started after some customers visited her compound claiming that they wanted to buy fencing materials.

Unaware that the four men had a hidden agenda, the trader took their orders before she noticed that something was amiss in her nearby house.

“I noticed another car had parked near the fence of my house and on checking the car and the customers took off in a huff,” she said.

It was then that she realized that her ten-year old daughter had been kidnapped.

The emotional mother narrated how the daughter who is still traumatized woke up hours later to find herself in an unfinished house in Kayole estate along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway.

“She managed to untied herself, escaped through the window and started walking towards Naivasha town when she was rescued by a motorcycle operator,” she said.

Mathea told of the family joy when the minor returned home after midnight.

Speaking on phone, Naivasha CID boss Martin Mbaya admitted that the matter had been reported at the Naivasha police station.

Mbaya said that they had launched investigations into kidnapping matter though no arrest had been made.

“We have launched investigations though the family is yet to record statements with us,” he said.
