Embu, Kenya: President Uhuru Kenyatta has called on Kenyans to give his government time to fulfill its promises.

President Uhuru asked those pushing them too much to realise that they have been in Government for only three months and to give them time to deliver their promises.

“If you get a wife, a child does not come after only three months. You give her enough time,” said the president during a fundraiser at ACK St Paul Cathedral-towards construction of Bethsaida Hospital in Embu town Sunday.

The Head of State said a time had come to leave what has happened and forgive one another so as to get a new beginning.

The President said the country can move forward only when people work together and live in love and unity.

The president noted that they cannot accomplish the work of building the nation on their own and said, he is ready to cooperate and work with all leaders and the citizens from all corners of this country.

“Politics is behind us and we should not waste time fighting one another. We are ready to team up with County governments and all elected leaders to build the country,” he said.

The president reiterated that his Government was committed to initiate projects that would create employment opportunities to empower the youths.

He added that they will enhance agriculture, create new jobs and ensure young people get contracts and tenders that can help improve their livelihood.

“Creating opportunities for the youths will help them stop drug abuse, which misleads the country from attaining its objectives,” he said.

He urged employers not to deny giving jobs to the youths on the belief that they have no job experience and wondered how they would gain experience if they do not get the jobs first.

President Uhuru said the Jubilee government ascended to power through God’s grace noting that many people had not imagined he would make it to the presidency.

Leaders present included Speaker of the National Assembly Justin Muturi, Embu Governor Martin Wambora, Budget committee chairman in the National Assembly Mutava Musyimi, Tharaka-Nithi Women Representative Beatrice Nkatha, her Embu Counterpart Rose Mitaru and Embu Senator Lenny Kivuti.

Musyimi said the row between the Inspector General of Police David Kimaiyo and Chairman of the National Police Service Commission Johnstone Kavulundi is affecting security in the country.
