Mudavadi wont quit presidential race

Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi declared today there is no compromise on his presidential bid even as coalition deliberation between United Democratic Forum (UDF) party and other political parties take place.

Speaking on the first day of two-day campaign in Bungoma County, Mudavadi said UDF party is negotiating anything else but not presidency.

“In UDF there is no compromise on his presidential candidature. We can negotiate anything else but the position of presidential candidate is
not negotiable. I will go to the end and I need your support”, he told supporters at Kabula in Bumula Constituency.
The UDF caravan has traversed parts of Bungoma County with stopovers at Kabula, Mateka, Nasianda, Mianga, Kimaet, Ekitale, Bwake,
Khachonge, Kabuchai, Luandani and Namwela.
He said it was embarrassing that in other ongoing coalition discussion the leaders from the region have been offered lesser posts as if they
do not matter.
“There are those negotiating themselves out of a job, I am negotiating myself into the job”, he said.
Mudavadi noted the Luhya community has supported other Kenyans for the presidency since independence and now time has come for them to be supported.

“We have supported other Kenyans for a long time for the Presidency but now it is their time to support us. Whenever we seek the presidency they say we talk tribalism. We have provided three vice presidents, this time is only the presidency we can negotiate for”, he stressed.
He said although he speaks only about the need for unity among Kenyans, he said he has been forced to speak out on the issue of the presidency and the community because there seemed to be intimidation that has forced some aspirants into silence.

The DPM urged the locals to register in large numbers once the voter registration exercise kicks off next week if they want elect him the next president.

“Next week when the voter registration starts, I want to appeal to you and all Kenyans to register in large numbers because it is registered voters will determine who will be the next president of Kenya”, he said.
