He identified one of the objectives Afraa intends to achieve through the project as coordination and harmonisation of flight schedules and provision of cost-effective flight connections across Africa and beyond.

Others are increase intra-African flight frequencies and offer flexibility to travellers as well as reduce average travel/transit time, increase aircraft utilisation, reduce costs of operation and improve load factor.

Afraa also wants to realise synergy through collaborative network development and develop virtual alliances among airlines through code-share, Special Prorate Agreements (SPAs) and other commercial arrangements.

Schedule cooperation will ensure that all participating airlines system-wide benefits from any adjustment to their network. There may be instances of a trade-off where airlines losing revenue on specific route will more than recover such loss from revenue generated on other routes in co-operation with another partner airline.
