Police close exhibition of poll chaos images

Armed police officers cut short the ongoing Picha-mtaani Exhibition in Naivasha claiming the event was raising tension in the town.

The Administration Police officers pulled down the pictures after the organisers of the event refused to close down the exhibition.

On exhibition were pictures taken during the post-election violence in different parts of the country, including Naivasha.

When contacted, Naivasha DC Mohammed Abass wondered if the organisers of the event had a permit to hold the exhibition. “I am not aware of the move to stop the exhibition but am wondering if the organisers had the permit to hold the event in the first place,” he said.

Naivasha MP John Mututho confirmed issuing the orders, saying that the exhibition was causing unnecessary tension.

An organiser, Boniface Mwangi, condemned the closure saying they had a permit to hold the event.
