Centum eyes Sh5b bond to drive growth

Updated Sunday, June 24th 2012 at 00:00 GMT +3

Centum is betting on the region’s property market and buying more shares in companies listed outside Nairobi to grow its profit, which will reduce the influence of stock market cycles and dividend pay-outs on its earnings.

The firm halted its dividend payment in 2008, while preferring to re-invest its profit.

The company, which paid a dividend of Sh0.40 in 2008, expects its strategy of reinvesting profits to go beyond 2014.

“We continue to enhance our exposure to private equity and real estate, while reducing exposure to market securities,” said Mworia.
