Sh700,000 fake notes impounded in Bungoma

Police in Bungoma have arrested a tout and impounded Sh700,000 fake money in 1,000 currency.

Bungoma County Police Commander Paul Soi said Fazul Ramadhan was arrested as he attempted to con a local businessman.

"The suspect convinced the trader that he could triple his money, the victim did not notice any foul play until his friend tipped police who pounced on the suspect," said Soi.

The suspect, a resident of Miritini in Mombasa is a tout with the long distance trucks ferrying goods to Kampala. He is alleged to be among a cartel distributing fake money in Western. He is expected in court soon.
