Court of Appeal rules on Jaguar’s August election

The Court of Appeal on Friday 17 August upheld the election of Starehe Member of Parliament Charles Njagua aka Jaguar.

Orange Democratic Movement’s (ODM) Steve Mbogo wanted the election to be nullified saying the results differed in form 35B and those displayed on electoral agency IEBC’s online portal.

In February, High Court Judge Fred Ochieng ruled that the MP was duly elected citing lack of evidence to show the discrepancies on the votes counts alleged in the petition.

Court of Appeal reduced Steve Mbogo’s Sh10 million in costs to Sh4 million.

Elsewhere, the Court of Appeal overturned High Court decision that nullified election of Embu Governor Martin Wambora, saying he was validly elected in the 2017 August General Election.
