Rift Rocks Jubilee's two pointmen in Mombasa

The rift between Jubilee members in Mombasa County continues to escalate as we draw closer to the elections, with the most recent one being a disagreement over the people nominated to the county assembly.


Mombasa gubernatorial hopeful Suleiman Shahbal has disowned the names that IEBC released on saying that they are not the ones he had sent to the party.

“My attention has been drawn to a list circulated by IEBC on the nomination of MCAs for Mombasa County Assembly and I wish to state that I disown that list as not being representative of the wishes of the Jubilee fraternity in Mombasa,” Shahbal said shortly after the release of the names.

It is said that Shahbal and his running mate Anania Mwaboza sent different names to the party which chose to forward Mbaboza's names to IEBC. The relationship between the two has since been in a bad state with the latter conspicuously missing out in this week's campaign trail.

Shahbal has however distanced himself from making direct attacks on his running mate or associating him to the scuffle in a bid to try and revive the already deteriorated relationship.

Instead, he has accused some individuals in the Nyali party headquarters who are out to frustrate his efforts of rallying in the region, which is said to be a NASA stronghold.

"We look forward to see immediate action by the party leadership in ensuring that the right list is adopted." A furious Shahbal warned
