Bidco United maintained their chase on National Super League (NSL) leaders Nairobi City Stars after bouncing back to winning ways in their 2-1 victory over Muranga Seals at Thika Stadium over the weekend.

The win saw Bidco remain second with 48 points, reducing the gap between them and league leaders City Stars to seven points.

This comes as City Stars lost 3-1 to Coast Stima, their second loss of the season.

Speaking to the Standard Sports, Bidco head coach Anthony Akhulia said he is pleased with performances of his team and they remain focused on sealing an automatic KPL qualification slot.

"We had a setback after losing to City Stars the previous week but I am glad we responded well against Muranga and collected maximum points," he said.

In Mumias, Junior Adeyefa scored a brace as Vihiga United thrashed Modern Coast rangers 4-1 at the Mumias sports complex to move third with 42 points, same as Nairobi Stima, who lost 2-0 to Fortune Sacco at the Kianyaga Stadium.

Ushuru defeated Kibera Black Stars 2-0 to remain tied in fifth place with 39 points same as Coast Stima, who shocked leaders City Stars 3-1.

At Bukhungu, Vihiga Bullets defeated bottom-placed St Joseph Youth 1-0.

Shabana played to a 2-2 stalemate against Administration Police.

City Stars and Bidco remain on course to finish in the top two automatic promotion slots as Nairobi Stima, Vihiga United and Coast Stima continue to fight for the third place playoff berth
