Government announces days the public will view Daniel Moi’s body

The government has announced that Tuesday February 11 will be National Public holiday to mourn the death of Kenya’s second president Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi.

The head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua made the announcement while speaking at the Harambee House.

“To enable every Kenya participate in the celebration of the life of former president Moi, the CS Interior has declared Tuesday 11th 2020 a public holiday.”


“The body of President Moi shall lie in Parliament Saturday to Monday. Public viewing at Parliament will be done on Saturday, Sunday & Monday between 8 AM – 5 PM. The casket will leave the funeral home at 8.05 AM,” says Kinyua.

Kinyua says Daniel Moi will be buried next week on Wednesday 12 February at his home in Kabarak. 

Moi died on Tuesday February 4 while undergoing treatment at the Nairobi hospital.
