Floyd Mayweather has appeared to confirm he will fight Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov in a rematch this year.

The American boxing legend defeated the Irishman in Las Vegas back in August 2017 with a 10th round stoppage.

But there has been a clamour among fight fans to see another money-spinning crossover - and Mayweather sent them into meltdown on social media with his latest post on Instagram.

Just moments after McGrgeor completed his UFC comeback with a thrilling 40-second TKO victory over Donald 'Cowboy' Cerrone, Mayweather posted a promotion image saying: "Mayweather vs McGregor 2. 2020."

UFC boss Dana White seemed to suggest there was some truth to the post - as he confirmed that conversations have taken place.

"Floyd and I have been talking tonight," White said. "We're doing something with Floyd. There's so much going on, but Floyd is in our plans and we are in Floyd's plans this year. We'll end up doing something."

McGregor spoke this week about his desire to fight Mayweather again.

The Notorious said: "I'd like to rematch Floyd. I think we should rematch Floyd. I mean, he's flirting with it, and they want all this. And he can go and pick someone else. It's not gonna be the same. It's not. I've done phenomenal in that bout.”

Just over half an hour after his McGregor tease, Mayweather posted another image on his Instagram showing an almost identical picture but this time with McGregor's MMA rival Khabib on it instead.

Both of them were plastered with a UFC strapline and a Mayweather Promotions logo, along with American broadcaster Showtime's branding.

Mayweather has previously said that he would only take on Khabib if it was in the boxing ring rather than the Octagon.

"They came to me talking about the Khabib fight," Mayweather told TMZ Sports. "Khabib called me out, I didn’t call Khabib out.

"They said it has to happen in the Octagon and I said, ‘You just tell me where Khabib has made nine figures before in the Octagon.

"If he hasn’t made nine figures, he’s not the A side. I’m the A side, so if you guys want the fight to happen, you must come my way. My way, my rules."
