Kenyans decry unverified products moments after DCI announced confiscation of contraband toothpaste

Kenyans online were on Saturday, December 14, 2019, quick to express their disgust towards the smuggling of household products into the country.

This came after the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) announced the confiscation of contraband goods that include toothpaste and fabric conditioners.

The DCI explained that through an intelligence-led operation, detectives based in parklands confiscated the goods in Donholm area.

This elicited mixed reactions from social media users who were fed up with the constant illegal importation of goods.

Some argued that the contraband goods did not pass through the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) hence could have unknown effects on users.

Others narrated their misfortunes after they used products that were not cleared for consumption by KEBS.

The DCI further added that two juvenile suspects were arrested in connection with the goods.
