Man dies in Homa Bay bound bus

A man travelling in a bus from Mombasa to Homa Bay died on Wednesday morning in mysterious circumstances.

Elisha Anyonyi, 23, was travelling to his rural home in Ndhiwa with his wife and two children.

Eric Gwoma, one of the passengers in the bus, stated that the deceased started complaining of chest pains and upon reaching Mtito Andei he alighted.

When he got back, he seemed unsettled and kept shifting in his seat.

Elisha's wife asked the bus driver to stop at the nearest hospital but her plea fell on deaf ears.

Her husband was complaining of chest pains but they proceeded with the journey.

Upon reaching Kisii town, Elisha's head had slumped on the front seat and it is at this point that they realised he had died.

The bus was driven to Homa Bay Police Station where the body was removed and transferred to the mortuary.

Homa Bay Sub-County Police Commander Sammy Koskei confirmed the incident saying the wife revealed Anyonyi had been living with Asthma.

Koskei urged passengers who are under medication to be cautious in long-distance journeys to avoid such tragedies.
