Nigerian, Congolese among those arrested circulating fake notes

Ogundeji Abiodun (Nigerian) and Tazisong Fabian (Congolese) were among three suspects arrested on Tuesday in Yatta, Machakos county, in possession of fake money.

The two were said to have been working in collaboration with a Kenyan, Elizabeth Mueni, to circulate the fake notes to unsuspecting members of the public within Kakumini village.

Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) confiscated fake Sh1000 new notes of Kenyan currency and materials used in making them.

“Ogundeji ABIODUN (Nigerian), Tazisong FABIAN (Congolese) & Elizabeth MUENI aged 41, 41 & 50 yrs respectively were today arrested in Yatta, Machakos County for being in possession of FAKE 1,000/= new notes of Kenyan Currency. Materials used in making them were also confiscated,” wrote the DCI.

The arrest was made possible following a tip-off by members of the public.

Elsewhere, two motor vehicle theft suspects were arrested by detectives in a raid that took place on Tuesday at a godown within Kariobangi South.

From the arrest, the detectives recovered car parts including engines, doors and number plates.

It is believed that the suspects have been stealing motor vehicles and selling the dismantled parts within the city.
