The late Kenneth Matiba’s kin commits suicide

A nephew of the late Kenneth Matiba has committed suicide in Murang'a.

James Gathukia Gachagu, 43, a son of Mzalendo Saba Saba Asili National chairman George Gachugu Mwithi allegedly committed suicide in his house in Maragi village.

The body of the deceased was found hanging from the roof top of his room by his brother David Mureithi.

The incident was reported at Murang’a police station at 9 am.

Mwithi said he had pleaded with his son to continue working at a firm in Nairobi when he failed to report on duty for several days.

“He was drinking so much and had defied my plea to resume working. It is a blow to the family and my advice to the youngsters they should keep off anti-social behaviours land alcoholics” said Mwithi.

Murang’a East Sub County Police Commander Alex Muasya said the matter is under investigations.

Mr Muasya asked the public to be ready and assist those suffering from depression to help them cope with life.

“The body was moved to Murang’a County Mortuary pending further investigations,” said Muasya.
