Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have shared intimate behind the scenes photos to celebrate their first wedding anniversary.

The couple shared a video on their Sussex Royal Instagram featuring a series of stunning snaps from their wedding day last year.

A direct message from the pair said: “Thank you for all of the love and support from so many of you around the world.

"Each of you made this day even more meaningful.”

The video had been viewed nearly one million times around an hour after it was posted from their official account this morning.

Along with the video was a caption that: "Happy one year anniversary to Their Royal Highnesses, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex!

"Today marks the one year anniversary of the wedding of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex."

"Their Royal Highnesses exchanged vows at St George’s Chapel within the grounds of Windsor Castle on May 19th, 2018.

"The selected song 'This Little Light of Mine' was chosen by the couple for their recessional.

"We hope you enjoy reliving this moment, and seeing some behind the scenes photos from this special day."

The Royal Family Twitter account also shared a message for the couple on its account writing: "Wishing The Duke and Duchess of Sussex a very happy wedding anniversary.

"Today marks one year since Their Royal Highnesses exchanged vows at St George’s Chapel in the grounds of Windsor Castle."

The Duke and Duchess celebrated their wedding in style in Windsor with a stunning ceremony followed by two glamorous receptions with their nearest and dearest.

It really was the wedding of the year, with the royals mixing with Hollywood's finest to celebrate the new Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Millions of people around the world tuned in to watch the couple exchange their vows while their loved ones watched on from the church pews.

And now a series of pictures from their special day have given royal fans a little more of a taste of the day.

Harry is seen in one snap appearing to practice his speech and in another jokingly 'thumbing a lift' from a car outside the venue.

The couple were also pictured signing the register in the collection of black and white pictures.

The post has received thousands of comments wishing the couple a happy anniversary, with one fan writing: "This is beautiful! Happy Anniversary to my favourite Royal couple. I wasn’t expecting a whole video."

Another person wrote: "Happy 1st anniversary to this inspirational couple. What a year, what a journey!!! These two have ignited my interest in the royal family."

The couple launched straight into royal duties after their wedding, just days after making their first official engagement as a married couple at a garden party celebrating the Prince of Wales's charity work.

The couple are now celebrating their anniversary just days after their son Archie was born.

Prince Harry has kept up his busy schedule after the birth by attending the wedding of Lady Gabriella Windsor and Thomas Kingston.

The Duke of Sussex left his wife and baby son Archie at home to attend the wedding and arrived with his uncle and aunt, the Earl of Wessex and the Princess Royal, who was joined by her husband Vice Admiral Timothy Laurence.

There was no sign of Prince William and Kate at the wedding.
