In an interview with a news site, Munyao said that he is a lastborn in a family of seven and his aging parents spent every coin they had to educate him

Despite braving the scorching sun, Munyao did not get any call from a potential employer

When Joshua Munyao graduated from Kenyatta University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce (Accounting) in 2017, he had high hopes of landing a job in the financial sector.

Two years later, he is yet to secure employment and has decided to hawk sweets in Nairobi’s Githurai area.

On Wednesday, Munyao was part of the crowd that showed up at Uhuru Park for the Labour Day celebrations, hopeful that the government had a good message for them.

Donning a black suit and a red tie, the accounting graduate strategically positioned himself at the front row holding a banner that explained his plight.

“Please give me a job. Joshua Munyao. B.Com-Accounting,” read the text.

In an interview with a news site, Munyao said that he is a lastborn in a family of seven and his aging parents spent every coin they had to educate him.

“I am a beacon of hope in my family, but I can only help them if I have a job. The spent every coin they had to educate me.

“I have to reciprocate this by taking care of them, more so my aging parents,” he said.

Adding: “I have decided to put this banner on their faces so that someone can at least spot me.”

Despite braving the scorching sun, Munyao did not get any call from a potential employer and went back to his hustle, hoping for a better tomorrow.
