Residents of a village in Homa Bay County are mourning the death of a bodaboda rider who allegedly killed himself after his wife declined to receive his phone call.

The rider identified as Erick Ador is reported to have taken his life by swallowing a drug known as accaricide which is used to kill ticks on livestock.

The bodaboda rider is said to have disagreed with his wife over the lady’s visit to her paternal home in Nyatike sub-county within the neighboring Migori County.

Residents who were interviewed said trouble began between the two when the wife failed to return home from the visit to her parent’s place.

Erick knew his wife would return after seven days as they had agreed before she left.

This prompted Erick to make phone calls to his wife. But to his surprise, his calls went unanswered.

Erick’s wife later called him and after an argument over the missed calls the young man decided to take his life.

“It seems like he killed himself using an accaricide because two used bottles were found beside his body,” said Area chief Samuel Okoko.

Erick’s body was taken to Rachuonyo South Sub County hospital mortuary.
