KU cancels exams to attend Museveni lecture

Kenyatta University has postponed all examinations that were scheduled for Friday, March 29, 2019, since the institution will be hosting Uganda’s President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

According to a memo seen by Ureport, all students are expected to attend the ‘important function’ that will start at 2pm.

As a result, examinations that were scheduled to take place on Friday have been pushed to Monday, April 8, 2019.

“All examinations between 2pm and 4pm will be administered between 8am and 10am.

“The examinations scheduled between 4.30pm to 6.30pm will be taken between 11am and 1pm,” read the statement in part.

Also, examinations for undergraduate and post-graduate programmes that take three hours will be administered between 9am and 12 noon.

Museveni landed in the country on Wednesday afternoon and is on a state visit to Kenya that is aimed at consolidating beneficial cooperation between the two countries at bilateral and multilateral levels.

On Thursday, the Uganda President visited the Port of Mombasa and thanked President Uhuru Kenyatta for ensuring that goods destined for Uganda are cleared in the shortest time possible at the port.

Earlier he had lauded the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) noting that it has significantly reduced the time it takes to transport goods from Mombasa to Nairobi.

He is set to be the first visiting Head of State to ride on the SGR when he uses the railway service from Mombasa to Nairobi on Thursday afternoon.
