Mbadi tells DP Ruto to stop defending corruption suspects

The National Assembly Assembly Minority Leader John Mbadi (pictured) has challenged the Deputy President William Ruto to stop defending Government officials accused of corruption.

Mbadi argued that the recent Ruto's comment that only Sh7 billion was lost in construction of a dam in Elgeyo Marakwet County implies that he defends government officials accused of perpetrating graft in the country.

Speaking during a fundraiser in of a dormitory construction at Okok Mixed Secondary School in Ndhiwa Constituency, Mbadi said Ruto's conduct in the fight against graft was questionable.

"It is wrong for the Deputy President to say only that only Sh7m was lost yet more money was lost in the scandal. His comments show there is something he knows about the scam," Mbadi said.

The Suba South MP said Ruto's comments will derail the fight against graft if he continued defending corruption suspects.

"The fight against corruption needs converted efforts hence it is wrong for somebody like the Deputy President to cushion a graft suspect," he added.

He called on Ruto to come out clearly and tell Kenyans if he is sincere with the fight against graft or not.

The Legislator argued that Kenya will not achieve the expected economic growth if the war on graft is not intensified.

Mbadi added that the awes facing the Treasury CS Henry Rotich indicate that many are headed for a wrong direction by perpetrating graft in the country.

"Grilling of high profiled CS like Rotich shows something is wrong in the government. Let all senior government officials be committed to fighting corruption," he added.
