The Education ministry has sent a team of investigators to Kakamega following the death of a student at Lugusi Boys Secondary School.

In a statement to newsrooms on Thursday, Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed added that counsellors will talk to the students, to help them deal with the experience.

On Wednesday, a Form Two boy was stabbed by a fellow student.

The attacker is said to have sneaked to the staff room with a knife and stabbed the student, killing him instantly.

Teachers administered first aid, but it was too late.

"We have sent a team to investigate the circumstances under which the student died," the CS said.

The Cabinet Secretary said the ministry has also sent a team of counselors to talk to the students to help them deal with the shocking experience.

The team will talk specifically to Form Four students who are about to start sitting KCSE examinations.

Cases of student stabbings have been reported in high schools before, with the most shocking being the Jamhuri High School clash between Muslim and Christian students. Seven boys were stabbed during the January incident.
