Bride demands unique gifts on wedding day

Weddings can be expensive, especially if the bride and groom decide to have their wedding abroad in a fancy location.

Most couples understand some of their loved ones might not be able to attend if they decide to tie the knot far away, and are eternally grateful to those who do decide to join them for their big day.

But one bride has hit out at guests who have agreed to spend more than £1,000 to attend her TWO WEEK wedding - because they've had to stay at a cheaper hotel for financial reasons.

She's also annoyed her family by demanding they buy her a 'nice present'.

One of her guests shared the story on parenting website Mumsnet to see what other parents thought.

She wrote: "We are going to a wedding abroad next year (won't post too many details as outing) and it has been hinted we are expected to buy a 'nice' wedding present.

"I feel that we shouldn't have to.

"Mainly I think this because the couple have chosen to go abroad, they have chosen a very expensive time of the year, we have a young child and the destination will be too hot for them to go outside for any length of time, we don't want to go to this country for our holiday anyway because it's just somewhere you lay by the pool.

"Now we can't afford a holiday of our own because this wedding (over £1,000 just for the flight and accommodation that's after finding our own cheap option), we have no annual leave left after this (two week!) wedding either.

"The couple haven't paid for anything for their own wedding and then got angry we didn't want to pay to stay on their resort as they wanted the 'free gifts' available if you get enough guests.

"Rant over... deep breath..."

Other mums agreed with her, and shared their outrage in the comments section.

One wrote: "Don't go to the wedding. If the couple are angry that you're not staying at the same resort, rather than pleased you're going at all, it makes me wonder whether invitations were sent out to bump up their numbers.
