Sharon Otieno’s family responds to Obado’s condolence message

The family of Sharon Otieno, the Rongo University student who was brutally killed last week, has finally responded to Migori Governor Okoth Obado’s condolence message.

In an interview with journalists, Sharon’s father Douglas Otieno said he was not interested in the governor’s message because he just wants justice for her daughter.

“I don’t know about his condolence messages and I don’t even wish to know. If they were meant for you (media), just keep them to yourselves.

“I have nothing to do with them. He (Obado) has never been my friend and has not been close to me so I don’t want to know about them (condolences),” he said.

On Wednesday, Obado maintained that he had nothing to do with Sharon’s disappearance and urged the media to stop spreading malicious narratives.

He further condoled with the deceased’s family, asking relevant authorities to act quickly and bring the perpetrators to book.

His wife Helen Obado had also sent a condolence message to Otieno’s family assuring them that she is willing to offer assistance in the investigations to ensure Sharon’s killers face the law.

“Finally, I want to say that I'm ready and willing whenever I will be called upon to give further statements so that the real perpetrators can be brought to book.

“I also want to urge the people of Migori County to stay calm and maintain peace because I know my husband is innocent and together in prayers, we shall succeed in this.

“Thank you and May God bless you all and may Sharon's soul rest in paradise,” read the post on Facebook.

The burial of Sharon’s baby was scheduled for Thursday but was postponed due to financial constraints.
