NASA died on January 30, ODM's Edwin Sifuna

The ODM party Secretary General Edwin Sifuna on Sunday, March 25, explained the reason behind Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula troubles. Speaking to Citizen, Mr. Sifuna said Wetangula’s woes are a result of his arrogance.

"Wetangula did not build rapport with his colleagues in the Senate and therefore he was removed," Mr. Sifuna said.

The Sec Gen said that Wetangula lacked humility that is required of a leader.

“If it is not possible to hold dialogue with his colleagues in the Senate, I don’t think that we can involve him in any other dialogue,” Sifuna said of Wetangula.

His remarks came shortly after Wetangula addressed supporters in Bungoma County where he said he is no longer interested in the Senate minority seat, accusing National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga of being behind his tribulations.

Speaking to the media, Wetangula vowed not to attend the retreat proposed by Raila Odinga but to continue giving the principal small measured and calculated dosage to ensure he enjoys no comfort.

“I will not, even if offered by Raila Odinga and his ODM Party, take up the seat of minority leader. That is not what I bargained for, our people in Vihiga, Trans Nzoia, Bungoma, Kakamega, and Busia unconditionally supported Raila and gave him an overwhelming vote. Now we have seen their vote of thanks,” said Wetangula.

Wetangula was replaced by Siaya Senator James Orengo as Senate Minority Leader on March 20 after nineteen Senators voted him out in a meeting conducted by Ford Kenya at the party's headquarters.

Mr. Sifuna concluded by saying NASA as a coalition died on January 30 after the co-principals failed to attend Raila Odinga’s swearing-in.

“NASA as a brotherhood died on the 30th of January when these individuals failed to stand with the rest,” he concluded.
