Nelson Marwa deserved a bigger position- Kenyans say after Uhuru named cabinet

Controversial former Coast regional coordinator Nelson Marwa is a trending topic after President Uhuru Kenyatta named him Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Devolution on Friday, January 26. Marwa, known for his no-nonsense approach to matters security has rubbed shoulders the wrong way in the Coastal region since he assumed office as regional coordinator.

Marwa, a holder of three Masters Degree started off as a junior district officer in Nyeri before working his way up. He has been conspicuous in the fight against Al Shabaab Militia and against drugs abuse in the coastal region.

Just last week, Marwa had declared war on strip clubs in the region stating that if girls wanted to dance naked, they should choose elsewhere to do so.

“People have lured young women to dance naked in front of men without shame. It is such a shocking and disgusting site,” he said.

In his fight for Justice, Marwa who is known to step on the toes who stand in his way, rubbed many people the wrong way. Among them is Mombasa County Governor Hassan Joho and Speaker Kharub Ebrahim Kharti. Speaker Kharti is at the moment suing Marwa for defamation as he called the former a suspected drug baron.

Owing to his diligence in getting the job done, many Kenyans had suspected that the Jubilee government would reward him with a position. After the announcement by President Uhuru however, many felt the PS position was too little for Marwa.

Many say he should have been put in charge of the Interior and Coordination of National Government where former Education CS Fred Matiang’i served before.

These are some of the remarks Marwa’s appointment evoked;

I'm not happy with Nelson Marwa being a PS for devolution. That guy's place is in Security docket. No one else can handle Mombasa teenage Zombies better than him. He was giving "Wakali kwanza" gangs sleepless nights, MR PRESIDENT PLEASE RECONSIDER #UhuruCabinet

Nelson Marwa could fit pretty well in the interior security docket.Matiang'i's place was education sector. #UhuruCabinet— Kamba Pundit (@kamwash254) January 26, 2018

Giving Nelson Marwa PS Devolution shows how President Kenyatta was confused high on herbs. He should have given him PS interior security.— Kelvin KALZ (@KALZKelvin) January 27, 2018

#UhuruCabinet
I feel Matiang'i should have retained the Education portfolio.
Nelson Marwa is hard-core enough to manage Internal Security.

#UhuruCabinet is a sham. We all know how Nelson Marwa deals with the drug barons, he was ejected from the Coast region so as to ease the pressure for the big barons to have full control of the trade in the region. Now Coast is going to be an overflowing drug zone. #GoodbyeMarwa— Just Being Deryl!!! (@ItsDeryl) January 27, 2018

How NELSON MARWA is fit for PS Devolution not CS INTERIOR is total confusion in Jubilee.

Nelson Marwa was doing an EXCELLENT job as a SECURITY administrator, sasa anaenda kufanya nini @Devolution254 Really? wouldn't he have been better as a PS either under Omamo or Matiang'i....?

instead of taking Nelson Marwa to somalia to fight al shaabab he is awarded a principal job in the devolution docket???????? this guy has the balls strong enough to scare away terrorists— Farrixayyo (@farrixayyo94) January 26, 2018
