#UhuruParkOffLimits – Kenyans express displeasure online after government closes Uhuru Park

The Nairobi County Government has closed down Uhuru Park from any planned gathering or meeting until further notice.

“Notice is hereby given to the general public that Uhuru Park Grounds is scheduled to undergo phased improvement works in order to enhance usefulness to its visitors,” read a notice by Acting County Secretary Leboo Ole Morintat.

This comes days before the National super Alliance (NASA) announced that they would swear in Raila Odinga as ‘The People’s President’ on January 30th.

The notice has created an intense debate online, with suspicion about the timing of the closure being linked to NASA’s event.

But on a serious note, the gov't of the day should have let NASA or is is NRM inaugurate their Chief Kadhi without hitches at Uhuru Park or anywhere else of their choice. No need for Sonko to pull this #UhuruParkOffLimits
