This is why 'the house of Mumbi' is full of hypocrites- Mutahi Ngunyi

Controversial political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has termed Nyeri Town Member of Parliament Wambugu Ngunjiri as Out of Order after his remarks on Deputy President William Ruto’s presidency in 2022.

Mutahi, in his January 8 tweet claimed that Wambugu as being one of the people who make people from Mt. Kenya region be called hypocrites.

This comes after the exchange between Gatundu South Member of Parliament and the Nyeri town counterpart on why Mt. Kenya region should or should not vote for the DP in 2022 presidential elections.

The debate started when Kuria said that Mt. Kenya region will vote for Ruto as he has always supported President Uhuru Kenyatta. Kuria assured Ruto that he will not be betrayed in the elections. Kuria’s remarks sparked a response from Wambugu who said he would not vote Ruto in on that basis.

“My vote and for those that I can influence will depend on the points above. Period. Nobody is or has ever been supported for the presidency of any country 'unconditionally'. Most importantly in 2022 my vote will not depend on betrayal or paying debts; there's no such thing in politics,” said Wambugu.

According to Wambugu, his vote in 2022 will go to a leader who was committed to ensuring President Kenyatta's legacy was secured and one who promoted national unity and guaranteed Kenyans the right to live anywhere in the country.

His Gatunu South counterpart on Sunday in a church service in Kingongo, Nyeri County countered his response, claiming that Mt. Kenya region was not being coerced into voting for Ruto. “I want to tell Wambugu that we (Mt Kenya) are not being forced to elect Ruto as the next president. It is our will since Ruto stood with President Uhuru Kenyatta when everybody had abandoned him,” Kuria responded.

Both Wambugu and Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga were in the service. Wambugu chose to stay aside even after the Governor invited him to sit with them.

The debate between the two has attracted emotions from many people including DP Ruto who asked leaders to focus on fulfilling their manifestos and leaving 2022 succession talks for later. Wambugu, who was once was once NASA leader Raila Odinga’s spokesperson has come out as suggesting that Ruto was not guaranteed to get the region's backing in 2022. He has been viewed in a different light with some saying he is working for National Super Alliance (NAS) interests.

James Mwangi, chairman of the Kenya Coalition for Political Progress, claimed Wambugu is a NASA mole who was sent to stir up trouble in the ruling coalition.

According to Mutahi Ngunyi, Wambugu is ‘Out of Order’. Here is his tweet;

On William Ruto, Wambugu Ngunjiri is completely OUT of ORDER. If The HOUSE of MUMBI has been DUBBED a House of Hypocrites, it is Because of Ngunjiri TYPES. Ashindwe!— Mutahi Ngunyi (@MutahiNgunyi) January 8, 2018

Mutahi’s claims elicited reactions from Kenyans from both divides. Some thought Mutahi was right;

We owe William Samoe Ruto a lot and on my behalf and my nyumba our votes are his let no one think otherwise we have fought the longest and now we're on unity avenue @WilliamsRuto @UKenyatta— Zosky Wahu (@zosky_wahu) January 8, 2018

???????? Finally you have woken up to accept the truth! So, all along it was in the back of you mind that "house of Mumbai has been dubbed a house of hypocrites"? Welcome to #Resist whether internal #Resist or with #NRM, now U understand the reason. #TanoTerror @MigunaMiguna @Asamoh_

You will have to live with that bitter truth.... Not a straight through process!!hardly 3months and 2022 realities are with us already ????????

Ngunjiri is not speaking his mind.No no no.He's testing the waters.it started the same way with Daniel Arap Moi.He was lucky that Kenyatta died. Otherwise wangejua hawajui. Ama namna gani?— Moses (@Mosesokotholoo) January 8, 2018

Others disagreed with him;

Well, Jubilee is a Nusu mkate arrangement. Ruto has had his share and thus making Ngunjiri assessment partially true. We owe no one a debt: if Kikuyus will vote for Ruto, it's not because he supported UHURU in 2013 &2017 but because he has proved to be a leader .— NG'ANG'A THE BLOGGER, A FINE SON OF THE MOUNTAIN (@IamNjokiKelvin) January 8, 2018

For once I disagree with you, in any case let's face the truth. A resistance force is gaining momentum.. First it was Kabogo now it's Ngunjiri. We will definitely 'rudisha mkono' to kalenjins but not necessarily Ruto. He can't and won't be the president #Game2022— Granvile™ (@Itsjaja_G) January 8, 2018

I know the kalenjins won't back any Moi regime because of what he did. But let the drama unfold. Uhuru won't reach 2022 without Ruto. A divorce will lead to an election before 2022— Dennis (@dennis_mutad) January 8, 2018

@ngunjiriwambugu is right. We will vote for Ruto in 2022 but it doesn't have to be made to look like we have no choice. Even Ruto will not be happy with votes from people who look like they've been forced. It will come from the heart— Mainado (@mainado) January 8, 2018

Ngunjiri is simply telling me what, Mama Njoro (my vegetable vender) been saying all along— Isaiah Rashad *Fuck The Police* (@future_OLUOCH) January 8, 2018

We are only indebted to our mothers and to our soil! If you help me hold on to a calabash so that we can both enjoy some gruel, your debt is paid with every sip you take!— Samuel Wachira (@cirasvoice) January 8, 2018
