Raila just made a huge mistake, Miguna disapproves Raila's refusal to be sworn in

After National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga notified his supporters that he would not be sworn in as President on Tuesday, November 28, different responses emerged.

Raila’s announcement came after a five-hour long meeting with other NASA leaders on November 25 in Maanzoni Lodge, Machakos County.

During the meeting, Raila declared he will not accept the offer to take charge as president the same day as President Uhuru since this would ruin his image internationally. He also said that such a move will be breaking the law.

Nasa declined invitations to Uhuru\'s inauguration which is scheduled for same day Raila was to be sworn in.

They chose to hold a memorial service instead, for people who died under police brutality last week when supporters went to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to welcome Raila back. The memorial is set for Jacaranda in Embakasi.

NASA however assured supporters that they would come up with legal ways to fight for justice. Supporters from all over the country had looked forward to Raila’s swearing-in as foretold by Siaya Senator James Orengo.

Orengo had earlier said that Raila would be sworn in in a parallel event to Uhuru’s inauguration despite the Supreme Court upholding Uhuru’s presidency.

Raila’ s announcement was received with different responses with some people feeling he did right while others thought he was cowering away from the government.

Ithink the advisors of mr odinga failed to guide him on the constitutional requirements and to make it worse he should stop cousing death— Lennoxkatana (@Lennoxkatana1) November 25, 2017

You will go down as the leaders who retired fighting the well-being of the poor https://t.co/c0cq62E18e focussed more on violent actions, than using peace approach. No legacy to leave behind. very sad and unfortunate. @orengo_james @MusaliaMudavadi

You attempted to remedy the mistake of having you as the presidential candidate by your half withdrawal but apparently other legal minds didn't interpret the law the Orengo way. I suggest you direct your fury at Preston for that costly gamble.— Fred Allan Nyankuru (@FredNyankuru) November 25, 2017

Now they've reverted to where we begun. Are this kicks from a dying horse....aren't they the ones who demanded supreme way n celebrated victory...we're still following #SupremeCourtKE where they took us..Why didn't @JubileePartyK say sock acted under duress.— Benjah (@Benjah15) November 25, 2017

One response, however, stood up from all the others. Former Nairobi gubernatorial candidate Miguna Miguna who has been a vocal fan of Raila said that this move is a huge mistake.

This is @RailaOdinga's BIG MISTAKE. In 2011, Allasane Quattara BRAVELY staked out the presidency of Côte d'Ivoire. Gambian president, Adama Barrow did the same in January, 2017. No one begs for power!

Miguna went ahead to engage those who disagreed with him, quoting history to prove his point.

General, I think you are wrong in this.In Ivory Coast electoral body declared QUATTARA the winner of elections same for BARROW. We cant risk going to uncharted waters.we live to fight in the streets till we get JUSTICE.

False! You clearly can read but you cannot INTERPRET CORRECTLY! What was the ruling of the Ivorian Constitutional Court? Your memory is your problem. Deal with it.— Dr. Miguna Miguna (@MigunaMiguna) November 25, 2017

Raila is a statesman. Even without swearing him he's still the people's president!— Ken Indeche (@indeche_ken) November 26, 2017

Not the point. Obfuscation is not welcome on my TL!— Dr. Miguna Miguna (@MigunaMiguna) November 26, 2017
