Eldas continues to lead in growth ahead of grand tree planting day

Eldas Consituency of Wajir has been a dry area for ages. This seems to be changing according to reports over the last 15 years. The Constituency has recorded immense growth in terms of urbanization.

Eldas could witness greenifying in a scale never seen before according to its area Member of Parliament.

In what could be seen as the acme of the campaign to conserve the environment, Eldas legislature Hon. Aden Keynan invited all who cared to a tree planning exercise where he will be hosting top Ministry officials including the CS for National resources, Kenya forest services officials, KEFRI officials, Wajir county governor, MCAs among other dignitaries.

According to a statement posted on his Facebook page the exercise which is set to be on Saturday, November 18 at 10:00AM will see about 7000 tree planted across the constituency.

"The exercise will begin at Eldas town then proceed to different parts of the constituency. An estimate of about 7000 (Seven Thousand) trees will be planted. This is the pinnacle of a greenification and afforestation initiative by The Adan Keynan Foundation which is running into its seventh year now," reads a part of the statement.

"Trees are a vital resource we can't do without. They give us oxygen, store carbon, stabilise the soil and give life to the world's wildlife. They also provide us with the materials for tools and shelter, food and a host of other products in between. Their aesthetic appeal is universal and they make our world a much more beautiful place to live in,” reads another part.

Keynan urged all the residents to turn up in their numbers and witness the historic event.

The constituency has been the envy of many owing to its vibrant growth over the past 15 years. Unlike its counterparts, it has registered unrivaled increase in businesses and urbanization.

If well implemented, this program will make it a place to be admired by all.
