Kipchumba Murkomen responds to the formation of National Resistance Movement by Raila

In a briefing held at the Panafric Hotel on Thursday 26th October, Elgeyo-Maakwet senator and also Majority leader in the Senate Kipchumba Murkomen has told the National Resistance Movement that they have no place in elections.

Raila Odinga said that the National Super Alliance (NASA) will now become a resistance movement in a major announcement at Uhuru Park on Wednesday 25th October.

Raila Odinga pulled out of the repeat presidential race after the coalition’s ‘irreducible minimums’ failed to be met by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

One of NASA’s irreducible minimums was the removal of IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba who took a three-week leave days before the repeat presidential election.

Murkomen said that there was large voter turnout in Elgeyo-Marakwet and that he expected around 90 per cent once the voting process was over.

He also told the National Resistance Movement, which he referred to as ‘national rebel movement’ that they have no capacity or moral authority to determine the turnout percentage in Jubilee strongholds.

The Senator also told the movement that they had no authority to discuss IEBC officials.

The statement was met harshly by NASA officials who were also present at the venue.
