IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati

IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati has asked politicians to stop interfering with the preparations for the October 26 poll

He says he has given a 'yellow card' to all political leaders in the country

Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission Chairman Wafula Chebukati has given a ‘yellow card’ to all political leaders and warned that he will not let anyone destroy the country while he is still the referee.

Speaking at the Bomas of Kenya, Chebukati said that he has tried to guarantee free and fair polls and that he has followed the law.

“I will not allow anyone to destroy this country especially when I’m the referee,” said Chebukati

Chebukati said that he is not going to resign and is determined to make the process work, at a time when the IEBC is facing all kinds of pressure from political parties and Kenyans.

He also warned political parties against interference with the electoral process and asked all officials adversely mentioned to step aside and allow for free, fair and credible polls.

Kenyans had a lot to say on social media, many thinking that Chebukati was going to resign:
