Twitter goes wild after Chebukati responds to Akombe exit

Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission Chairman Wafula Chebukati has given a ‘yellow card’ to all political leaders and warned that he will not let anyone destroy the country while he is still the referee.

Speaking at the Bomas of Kenya, Chebukati said that he has tried to guarantee free and fair polls and that he has followed the law.

“I will not allow anyone to destroy this country especially when I’m the referee,” said Chebukati

Chebukati said that he is not going to resign and is determined to make the process work, at a time when the IEBC is facing all kinds of pressure from political parties and Kenyans.

He also warned political parties against interference with the electoral process and asked all officials adversely mentioned to step aside and allow for free, fair and credible polls.
