"Mum, there are naked pictures of you circulating on the internet" the child said rushing to the mother who is a reputable woman in society.
"What! let me see".. the mother took the child's phone, the father leaned to also have a look.
The child was right; several explicit, nude photos of the mother were splashed on pages online.
"Where did these photos come from?" the father asked the mother who was trembling in shame.
The mother remembered the man she once dated when she was younger, before she met the man she is now married to. She loved that man, they did crazy things together, she sent him naked photos of herself but they broke up.
They broke up because he wasn't a good man, all he was after was fun, but she wanted to settle down.
Though she deleted the naked pics he sent her, he clearly kept her photos... and now, years later, now that she is settled, with her own family, with a good reputation; her ex has released images to the public that were meant for private.
She cannot undo the damage those pics will do... wherever she goes, people will look at her differently, the public, even her children have seen the nakedness meant only for her husband. The shame!
Be careful of the things you do when you are younger. Decisions you do in the name of fun can come to bite you in the future.
Be mindful of the people you date and what you share with them. They may use the things you share in private to bring you down when things between you two turn sour.
A fake boyfriend/ girlfriend today can be an enemy tomorrow.
It takes maturity to walk away from your ex without plotting their downfall, to keep your ex's secrets confidential, to still be trusted with the personal things your ex shared with you.
