Neymar skips Barcelona training – tells teammates he’s headed to PSG

As a world record 198 million euro transfer edges closer, Brazilian and Barcelona star Neymar has told the club that he wants to leave – fuelling more speculation on joining French giants Paris St. Germain.

He was given permission by Barcelona to miss training after reportedly saying goodbye to his teammates and Ernesto Valverde, the new club manager.

Neymar is valued at around 222 million euros, which after negotiation would reduce to up to 198 million, still a world record transfer fee.

If the deal falls through, Neymar will become world’s most expensive player after Paul Pogba, who completed a 98 million euro move to Manchester United from Juventus.

Neymar was last week involved in a training ground bust up with Portuguese defender Nelson Semedo, who also joined Barca from Benfica this summer.

Scoring a whopping 121 goals for Barcelona since he arrived from Santos, Neymar has been in prolific form, part of the engine propelling Barcelona’s MSN (Messi – Suarez – Neymar)

Pundits have argued that Neymar’s release clause is too big and would go beyond FIFA Financial Fair Play rules if paid to a single club.

Paris St. Germain visited La Liga offices to push for a move but much has not been agreed on.
