NASA presidential candidate Riala Odinga has successfully sought to be the head of state and he is now having a much rivaled stab at the presidency this year and given the fact that it is his last stab at the top seat, much momentousness is in him and in his supporters.

He came too close to clinching the seat in 2007 and 2013 and the fact that this year key leaders in the opposition had to shelf their ambitions to back him against Jubilee’s Uhuru Kenyatta, much is expected of him

Raila over the weekend made remarks that could leave many wondering just how he might have quickly forgotten the steeplechases he had gone through in his past stabs at the presidency.

He said if he wins in the August 8 election, he will still immediately resign if Senator Mike Sonko elected as the Nairobi County Governor.

To him, a Sonko victory against the incumbent Evans Kidero of the ODM party will be a big blow to the presidency he is seeking with the patronage of Musalia Mudavadi, Kalonzo Musyoka and Senator Moses Wetangula who all chose to support him.

‘’If Sonko is the governor and I am elected as the president, I will resign on the very day,” said Mr Odinga at a rally during the weekend.

Jubilee party has vowed to ensure they capture the governor’s seat from ODM party’s Evans Kidero who in recent opinion polls appeared to be slightly ahead of Mike Sonko.

The two are fierce rivals for the seat with each of them proving hard to beat in the contest seen as the toughest gubernatorial race across the country.

The sentiments by Mr Odinga have been argued as efforts to muscle solid support for Governor Kidero as no one among their supporters would want to see the much strived for Raila presidency fade away so easily in the event Sonko becomes the governor.
