Jubilee candidate ashamed in front of President Uhuru Kenyatta

Elgeyo Marakwet County governor, Eng. Alex Tolgos was embarrassed by his opponent in the presence of President Uhuru Kenyatta as his supporters watched in dismay.

Governor Tolgos who is the Jubilee Party candidate for the seat he will be defending was denied to welcome the president at his home county.

The opponent, Moses Kiplagat Changwony’s name filled the air as Tolgos snatched away the microphone to welcome Uhuru Kenyatta yesterday evening in Chepkorio Show ground, Keiyo south sub-county.

Tolgos’ bid to calm the mass shouting at the top of their voices was in vain and he finally handed over the microphone to his antagonist in the Elgeyo Marakwet gubernatorial seat race.

This is the first ugly moment for the governor and it happened in his home ground and Jubilee Party zone barely two months before the general elections.

Since governor Tolgos announced his youthful running mate, Wisely Rotich, there has been a major shake-up in his political career.

There has been nepotism allegation in his government that have probably been eating his political calling from the inside.

The race for the seat in the county has heated up day by day as the electorate get to understand their democratic role in vetting and electing good leaders.

The Civil Society Organizations and Community Based organizations supported by Uraia Trust has been conducting civic education on good governance across the vast county.

During the past Jubilee party nominations, Governor Tolgos was far much ahead of Moses Kiplagat Changwony who conceded defeat and later joined the race independently.

Anthony Chelimo is another independent candidate that is also vying for the highly contested seat.

Meanwhile, the governor said that he is not only ready but also optimistic that he will harvest majority votes as possible to win the race despite the staring setbacks in his bid for a second term.
