'NASA TIBIM' singer remains unrecognized despite top Ohang'la hit.

Ohangla music is popular in Western Kenya and last year in October, when UNAids goodwill ambassador Victoria Beckham toured Kisumu County, she deeply fell in love with the music describing it as enjoyable.

'Tibim', a new Ohang'la hit by Engineer Onyi Jalamo is a popular hit in the country as it elucidates the high expectations among supporters of the Opposition coalition, National Super Alliance ( NASA ) alongside its leaders.

Last year in October Mrs. Beckham who is a fashion designer, model, singer and wife of a football star David Beckham surprised the music's fans as she joined traditional dancers and revealed that "strange but nice energy comes with the rhythms" of the songs sang in Luo.

Some of its well-known artists are Tony Nyadundo, Lady Maureen, Odos Jasuba and Boyeta wuod Awasi but the NASA Tibim new song has raised the bar as it is now popular in Kenya.

Onyi Jalamo yesterday at an interview on TV confirmed having produced the Tibim song for a local politician who is eyeing a county assembly seat in Nairobi but realised it emerged with a huge following and fan base inspiring him to feature national leaders.

He says the song is named Tibim, used in the song to mean grand entrance or arrival showing believe in the focus NASA principals have on leadership.

Despite singing about the coalition leaders and brand making it a household name, as the main subject of the song's content, he has not received any recognition or appreciation from the leaders.

He said he invited himself to the unveiling of ODM party leader Raila Odinga as the flagbearer for NASA on Thursday last week due to pressure accumulated on his social media platforms from his fans.

"I have not gotten anything from the leaders or the coalition and I doubt if they know of my existence. I invited myself to the flagbearer unveiling rally last week as my fans had demanded," said Mr Jalamo.

Jalamo performed at the function and has denied having received any payments even for having his song at the top of the menu on each NASA function.

He has called on the leaders to recognise his work and support his team to promote art and the creative economy.

Jalamo has been a gospel artist and has songs in Swahili and Dholuo.

He hinted at plans to produce a better video for the song since the current one had been produced locally with little attention to quality and ethical issues that have been a major concern from lovers of the hit Tibim.
